From the moment Amarnath Matthews completed his Western-style Ayurveda studies in 2006, he sensed something essential was missing. His training had given him structure, but not the depth, nuance, or classical wisdom he intuitively knew existed.

For nearly two decades, he returned to India again and again—studying with Vaidyas, sitting with teachers, and searching for the roots of Ayurveda that had been diluted elsewhere. Each trip revealed pieces of the tradition, but never the complete picture he was seeking.

By 2025, that quiet inner calling became clear. Rather than lament the absence of genuine, college-level Ayurvedic education in the United States, it was time to build it.

Amarnath reached out to physicians in India who shared this vision and connected with Dr. Vivek Singh, who would become the primary educator and curriculum co-creator of The ICA. Together, they shaped a program rooted fully in classical Ayurveda—rigorous, textual, and clinically grounded—yet accessible to modern students.

What emerged is something rare in both India and the U.S.: a comprehensive, four-year educational path designed to train the next generation of highly skilled Physicians of Clinical Ayurveda.

A vision that once began as a quiet longing has become a living, growing institution—one that honors tradition, empowers students, and restores Ayurveda to the depth and dignity it deserves.
